Oh, dear, sweet Scott. You helped me through so much. You listened to me when I was in despair and comforted me with your own stories of struggle. And it was you who brought me closer to my dearest friend Terry before and after he died. I miss you, though we only spoke deeply but once. And I so. miss my best buddy Terry. Scott was a wonderful, inspiring human being. Once you met him, you never forgot him. He was a life long peace activist. He was devoted to his wife, Barbara, his dogs and humanity. He was a loyal friend.

Scott Herrick had the unique quality of causing people to connect with their humanity. He was a source of strength and wisdom. Although he came from a comfortable life, he chose to live on his sailboat and brought others along with him whose lives were enhanced as a result, who joined with others to help build a better world. I recently found my copy of his wonderful rainbow passport which advances the universality of the human experience regardless of national boundaries. He not only encompassed the world with his love, but he always made time for his mother. He would go up to NY every year before the winter set in to help her get ready for the season. He left an enduring legacy; one of strength in the face of adversity; persistence in working for a world worthy of humanity.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
